The Nebraska State Patrol is utilizing a new tool that will save travelers money and time, while they investigate crashes.
It all has to do with the department’s drone program.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the whole goal is to have quick clearance for crash scenes. Troopers say by using the drones, they can reduce the investigation time from around two and a half hours to just 45 minutes.
NSP’s drone program is taking off, literally.
Trooper Jake Arnold has been with the Nebraska State Patrol since 2014.
Just recently, he has been one of the new drone operators.
“If we have a circumstance where we have a really bad crash where people were injured, and there’s someone determined to be at fault, or we have a fatality that the state patrol is working here in Omaha, that meets the conditions for utilizing a drone,” Trooper Arnold said.
