Instead of using a question this week, I thought I would share with you what happened with one of my newer patients who is also a very dear friend of mine.
As with most dental phobics, it is easy to delay dental care until it causes pain that is unrelenting. This is what happened with this friend of mine. He knew of dental issues that needed attention. But it was just easier to delay the inevitable because of his phobia until it became obvious that he was at the end of his rope.
My friend called me with discomfort. I started him on antibiotics after hours and had him come to the office for a diagnosis. He had a severe dental infection along with extreme inflammation and the antibiotic worked to subdue the infection.
Ultimately, he ended up having a few teeth removed and he elected to have a bridge made.
