Dodgers’ Max Scherzer celebrated Wild Card win ‘drunk,’ shirtless and with former Nats teammate Juan Soto

Advancing to the postseason is an exciting moment and, if you ask Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitcher Max Scherzer, it should be celebrated properly. For him, that celebration includes running around shirtless and admitting to being drunk on national television.

The Dodgers kept their season alive when they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 3-1 with a walk-off home run in the National League Wild Card Game on Wednesday. The team went wild and the events that occurred after the win hindered Scherzer’s ability to speak to the media.

The scene at Dodger Stadium also included former teammates of Scherzer’s with the Nationals: superstar Juan Soto and Nats hitting coach Kevin Long. In 2019 Scherzer won the World Series with Soto and Long on the Nationals, but was then was moved to the Dodgers at this season’s trade deadline.

Scherzer is clearly still close to that Nats championship team and they wanted to come out to support their former teammate. “It just means the world. For them to be here in this moment that was awesome,” Scherzer said after the win.Long wore a Nationals Scherzer jersey and Soto wore a Trea Turner National’s jersey. Turner was traded to the Dodgers with Scherzer at the trade deadline.
