Veterans of America will host the 2024 Midwest Pie Championship from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 14, at Freedom Bank Hall, 201 West Main Street, Waukon. All-you-can-eat pie, whipped and fruit will be available, and a pie-eating contest will be held at 2 p.m., with a pie auction at 3 p.m.
Pie classes include apple, pumpkin, raisin crème, nuts, fruits and berries, meat and best decorated. Judging will be based on flavor, creativity and overall impression, with ribbons being award for first, second and third-places. All judging pie entries must be accompanies by the recipe, and pies must be delivered before 1 p.m. for judging.
