Jurassic World: Dominion’s first batch of reviews are quite negative, earning the movie the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of the Jurassic Park franchise. While most of the movies in the franchise have been poorly reviewed, they still tend to draw a large audience and see a fair amount of success at the box office.
Jurassic Park‘s 1993 release was met with rave reviews and a huge run at the box office making it the highest grossing movie of all time until it was passed by Titanic in 1997. Jurassic Park‘s reception gave it a reputation as one of the most popular movies of all time, but its success set a high bar the rest of the franchise has always struggled to live up to.
So far, the majority of Jurassic World: Dominion‘s reviews have been negative, but with a 39 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, that means nearly four in ten critics gave it a positive review, so there’s still at least some support in smaller pockets. When it comes to the criticisms, the writing is one of the primary complaints, citing simplistic character beats, a lack of emotion, and an over-reliance on nostalgia.
