Virginia improved to 6-2 on the season with a 48-40 win over Georgia Tech Saturday and quarterback Brennan Armstrong had another stellar performance. Heading into the game, Cavaliers linebacker Nick Jackson knew the team had “a warrior” in Amrstrong.
As he closed in on the school passing record, Armstrong led a balanced attack for Virginia in the win over the Yellow Jackets. Behind their star quarterback, Jackson said the team is never out of any game.
“He’s a warrior,” Jackson said. “I mean he loves competition. He loves everything about being a quarterback and sometimes I feel like he’s a linebacker or safety. He’s got a heck of arm and he can put it anywhere you want. But that’s just the mentality. He plays with an edge. Anytime the guy gets back there, I mean, first of all the defense you just have the utmost confidence that he’s gonna get the job done.
“When we were at Louisville, the defense was getting back to back stops and when we finally got that last stop I was going over there to hype up the offense and he had this look in his eye. I was like, ‘we’re about to get the job done.’ Fourth down, calling timeouts, there was no question in his face he knew he was gonna get the job done. He was gonna find a way so when you got a player like that, the rest is history.”
