Allyson Felix has the opportunity to be the gold standard once again.
Felix can further build her case as one of the greatest United States Olympians ever: the 35-year-old Felix is a nine-time medal winner in the Olympics, with six gold medals and two silvers in her Olympic career, stretching back to 2004.
It wasn’t all gold in 2016 in Rio for Felix; competing in the 400 meter, Felix settled for a silver medal, her third silver overall and the only silver of three medals earned in Brazil. At Olympic trials from June 18-27, Felix made her fifth Olympic squad and continued setting the standard for Olympic athletes.
The women’s track stalwart was just one of many track and field stars trying to break onto Team USA in Eugene, Ore., with men and women taking the field (and track) to make it into the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
Sporting News tracked all the U.S. Olympic qualifiers in track and field throughout the week.
