Ohio State football: Ryan Day outlines NFL potential of Garrett Wilson Chris Olave

Ohio State and Alabama are breeding grounds for NFL wide receivers. In the case of the Buckeyes in 2021, they produced two potential first-round draft picks at the position in Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.

Head coach Ryan Day knew it was a luxury but thinks any team would be lucky to have one of those pass catchers. Both Wilson and Olave could be No. 1 and 2, in some order, when being selected among the wide receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft in April. Alabama’s Jameson Williams, despite his injury, could also be a high first-round pick.

“Well first off, he is extremely competitive,” Day said of Wilson. “He loves to play the game. I mean, the bigger the moment, the more he wants to play. His catch radius is off the charts. His ball skills. We recruited him down in Lake Travis down in Texas. You could see it back then, he was a basketball player.

Dad is a Hall of Famer, Rick Davidson. So it was in his background of just great tremendous ball skills. But he can tie him up down the field, he can jump up and get a deep ball. He knows how to set up defenders. He’s very powerful in changing direction.
