Michigan vs. Wisconsin fight: Juwan Howard draws heavy criticism after postgame brawl

The Wisconsin Badgers took down the Michigan Wolverines 77-63 Sunday but the highlight, or lowlight, wasn’t the solid win from the Badgers. Michigan coach Juwan Howard went after Wisconsin coach Greg Gard in the postgame handshake line and even threw a punch. It resulted in a postgame brawl involving multiple players on both sides, including some Wolverines apparently throwing punches as well.

It remains to be seen what happens in terms of Howard and player discipline moving forward, but it was an ugly scene after the game. The media eviscerated Howard on the spot for his behavior.

Fueled by another standout performance from Johnny Davis, 15th-ranked Wisconsin handled the Wolverines in the second half. Wisconsin (21-5, 12-4) held Michigan to a single field goal over a 10-minute stretch in the second half, turning a five-point deficit in a 15-point cushion inside the Kohl Center.

Gard’s timeout likely lit the fire under Howard, but the punch came out of nowhere and things were heated even before then. In what was a solid win for Wisconsin turned into an ugly scene Sunday afternoon.
