Schools in the Humboldt-Del Norte League will be opening their stands to more spectators.
H-DNL commissioner Jack Lak in announced the league will be following the California Department of Public Health’s performance guidance for outdoor sports, including football and soccer, starting Thursday, April 1. The decision was reached after talks between county health officials, district administrators and member schools.
Under the CDPH guidelines, outdoor venues within counties in the most-restrictive Purple Tier may host up to 100 people. Venues in counties in the Red Tier can operate at a maximum 20 percent capacity, while Orange Tier venues can accommodate 33 percent of its capacity or 67 percent if all guests can show proof of full vaccination or testing. The least restrictive Yellow Tier will allow for a maximum capacity of 67 percent regardless of attendee vaccination or testing status.
Humboldt County is currently in the CDPH Red Tier level. Lak in said to the Times-Standard capacity will increase as the county moves to less restrictive tiers. Read more
