Gorman, Dozier, Schaefer participating in OVAC all-star game

Eric Huck knew exactly what kind of players he was looking for when he set out to select his quarterbacks and running backs for the annual OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star football game.

The Ohio head coach, who has guided Fort Frye to unmatched success the last handful of seasons, plans to utilize his Wing-T offense when the Buckeye State clashes with West Virginia on July 24 at Wheeling Island Stadium.

“We’re a Wing-T, shotgun team, so we wanted quarterbacks who can run, and the three we chose can all do that,” Huck said.

Slated to battle for the quarterback duty are Catholic Central’s Ryan Gorman, Barnesville’s Ayden Hannahs and St. Clairsville’s Tyler Tonkovich.

Meanwhile, at the running back spot, Huck is very high on the versatility, speed and power his backs are bringing to the table.

“I am really impressed with the group,” Huck said. “I am excited to see how it comes together. A lot of these guys haven’t seen the Wing-T, so it’ll be interesting to see when they get the timing down.”
