Veteran cornerback Jason McCourty reportedly reaches deal with Dolphins after three seasons with Patriots

Jason McCourty will remain in the AFC East in 2021.

The veteran cornerback has agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins after spending the past three seasons with the New England Patriots, sources told NFL Media’s Mike Garofolo and Ian Rapoport on Thursday evening.

It is a reported one-year deal for McCourty, who had been an unrestricted free agent since the new league year opened on March 17. And it will see him reunite with former Patriots assistant coaches on the defensive side of the ball in Miami’s Brian Flores and Josh Boyer.

The 33-year-old Rutgers product served as a team captain in his final campaign alongside twin brother Devin McCourty in the Patriots’ secondary. His tenure spanned 47 games, including playoffs, to go with 36 starts.

Along the way arrived 162 tackles, 23 passes defensed, two interceptions and a Super Bowl LIII ring in a versatile role that included snaps at safety.
