With New York City announcing a vaccine requirement for indoor dining, gyms, and other activities, becoming the first major United States city to do so, the Council of Fashion Designers of America is establishing a similar plan. All CFDA runway shows will require proof of vaccination for all guests, staff, and on-site personnel. Yesterday, IMG, which sponsors the official NYFW, issued a vaccine requirement for its venue, Spring Studios.
“Following IMG’s announcement of a vaccination requirement at NYFW: The Shows, we encourage the broader industry to follow suit as it is imperative to place the safety of guests and those working events in the highest priority,” the CFDA said in a statement. “We will be closely following updates and recommendations from the CDC, New York State, and city, and will be releasing further detailed guidelines in mid-August.”
The city’s vaccination requirement won’t go into effect until August 16, with a slow roll out until schools re-open September 13.
