Live Music This Weekend: Blues Cheese Festival with Mac Arnold, The Gathering Dark

The Center for Arts & Entertainment will hold the Blues Cheese Festival with Mac Arnold and The Gathering Dark this Saturday. While there will be a cheese component to the festival, it’s not about that strong-tasting white cheese with streaks of blue mold, but about the blues music genre. To celebrate the center’s second Blues Cheese Festival, Mac Arnold & Plate Full o’ Blues will headline the event, and Hendo’s own The Gathering Dark will open the stage.

In the lobby there will be a “cheese taste-a-thon” with homemade cheese from WNC creameries. Sounds like my kind of event. I like the blues, and I like cheese. I wonder if they’ll have wine? Let’s ask The Center’s Business Operations Manager Monica Bixby 10 questions about the festival.

The doors open at 1:30 so that guests have time before the music starts to learn more about the WNC Cheese Trail, while nibbling on cheese and sipping a glass of wine! The music starts at 2 p.m. on the main stage with The Gathering Dark, followed by Mac Arnold & Plate Full o’ Blues at 3 p.m. Managing Artistic Director Jeanie Linders developed this idea back in 2019 when we held the first Blues Cheese Fest. There was such a great response from the community so we decided to have it again this year.
