Parisian luxury brand Hermès has opened its first location in Michigan, at the Somerset Collection mall, in the northern suburb of Metro Detroit, Troy.
Located in Oakland County, some 30 miles away from Detroit, the store’s offering covers all of the brand’s métiers, including men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and footwear, accessories, fragrance, beauty, leather goods and equestrian products.
The store, which was conceived by Parisian architecture firm RDAI, seeks to pay homage to the lakes, forests and rock formations of the American Midwest and spotlights a number of local materials in its design.
Shoppers are greeted by a polished Saint Clair limestone façade, featuring a subtle chevron pattern reminiscent of a bird feather. Upon entering the store, visitors discover a tall wooden structure displaying the brand’s colorful silk and jewelry, behind which three walls of granite create individual spaces dedicated to Hermès’ other métiers.
To their right, shoppers find the brand’s fragrances and its newly launched beauty line, before continuing into equestrian products. In the center of the boutique, the brand displays its leather goods in an environment enclosed by light brown and gray stone walls.
