Country music stars to take over the Globe in local album release

A local artist’s album release will bring a herd of country music stars to a city stage this weekend.

Palmerston North musician Renee Therese has come back to her roots to release her second album on the Globe Theatre’s stage this Saturday night.

The country music album, ‘Better with Friends’, will ring true to its name as she invites award-winning country music artists from Manawatū and Whanganui to perform alongside her.

“After my first album I wished I’d collaborated with other people because you can always create something better with others than on your own.

“The vocals were recorded at my house in my son’s room because we share a computer.”

Therese released her first album in 2013 with a contemporary pop feel, but taking a spin at country music felt natural to her.

“It was kind of like going back to my roots as a country music artist.

“I came back to where I started from. I found where I’m supposed to be and I found myself.”

It costs a lot to make an album, but she’s not in it for the money.
