Moda Operandi appoints chief merchandising officer

Luxury online fashion retailer Moda Operandi is continuing to strengthen its leadership team with the appointment of April Hennig as senior vice president and chief merchandising officer.

Effective August 30, in the newly created role, Hennig will be responsible for overseeing product strategy, category expansion, merchandise planning and brand partnerships and experiences, according to WWD.

Hennig joins the company with more than 15 years experience in luxury fashion and retail. Most recently, she was president of Los Angeles-based designer Jonathan Simkhai, and previously served as vice president and divisional merchandise manager at Bergdorf Goodman. She started her career at Saks Fifth Avenue, where she held various buying roles.

The announcement follows several other appointments at the e-commerce firm, planned ahead of post-pandemic recovery. Moda Operandi appointed Dermott Sullivan and Don Allen in the newly created roles of chief operating officer and chief information officer, respectively, as well as Mark McClendon as senior vice president of global marketing and sales.

Meanwhile, the shake up follows the appointment of Jim Gold as the company’s chief executive officer in May. Gold was first named interim CEO in January taking over for Ganesh Srivats, who held the role of CEO at the company from August of 2018 to December of 2020.
