“Make Music Portland” back for their 9th celebration

As Maine’s recovery from the coronavirus continues a staple of Portland entertainment is getting back underway.

On Monday, “Make Music Portland” is holding their 9th annual celebration from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There will be 23 different music performances across the city made up of mostly Maine based musicians and artists.

Organizers say the goal of “Make Music Portland” is to focus on community music and artistic expression and to fill the streets of Portland with music that everyone can enjoy.

The celebration is hosted on the Summer Solstice every year both here in Portland and more than a thousand cities across the world but this year the celebration is a little bit sweeter.

“Everybody is coming out after COVID again and last year we had a very subdued celebration which was all online. So I think there’s a lot of people that want to come out and participate, get back into the community and see what’s going on,” says Max Mogensen, co-organizer of Make Music Portland.
