Warm, sunny conditions Saturday brought out the shoppers, and a new location at Oaklawn Plaza, Bossy Boutique, opened its doors to greet them. The boutique specializes in women’s and plus-sized clothing and features locally made garments.
Tyasia Williams, owner of the boutique, says that she learned at a young age (25) that she really didn’t like working for others and decided to put out her own shingle.
“I decided I wanted my own place, set my own rules and hours,” she said. “I picked this business because I enjoy fashion. I’ve a particular style myself and my friends tend to take note of that. So I’ve turned it into a business, the Bossy Boutique.”
She describes her passion for fashion as years in length and fathoms in depth. So that drove her to this enterprise. Now seeing this passion brought into being, a dream made form, she is overwhelmed.
“I’m very emotional, I was crying tears of joy when we opened,” she said. “To see this happen finally, is is a dream come true.”
Among those helping her with this venture is her mother, Ledonna Aldridge. Aldridge is an experienced clothes maker and some of her work will be featured in the merchandise on display at the Bossy Boutique.
“I’ve been making clothes since I was 15 years old,” she said. “I’ve done my own work for friends, family, customers around Texarkana. I’m full of joy, proud of my daughter. This has been a long time coming. And I’m overjoyed at having a new way to introduce my work to Texarkana customers. This is a great place, great day.”
