Board of Supervisors approves $162.76 million Wyoming County budget

Board of Supervisors approves $162.76 million Wyoming County budget | Local News | thelcn.comThe county’s Board of Supervisors passed the $162.76 million budget during a special meeting on Tuesday. The spending reflects the COVID-19 pandemic’s ongoing impact on county operations, along with the resulting state and federal aid.

The budget has increased 3.95 percent compared to 2021. But that includes $7.8 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding.

That means although allocations are expected to increase, its tax rate would be less than in 2021.

“We are very happy to be under the tax cap,” said Chairwoman Rebecca Ryan of the Board of Supervisors.

She thanked the county department heads and employees, along with Budget Officer Janis Cook, for their efforts.

Budget details include:

The full value tax rate would decrease 6.32 percent to $9.10 per $1,000 of assessed value. That means the average owner of a house assessed at $100,000 would pay $910 in county taxes, representing a $61 decrease compared to 2021.

Those estimates do not reflect additional amounts which could be added for workers compensation, the Board of Elections, the Recycling Program or other re-levies or corrections.
