10th UW Fashion Week starts

Students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison held their first event for the 10th anniversary Fashion Week on Monday.

The week of event’s is hosted by the campus fashion and lifestyle magazine, MODA.

Co-Creative director, Samantha Starks, helped organize the week’s online and in-person events.

“Due to the pandemic we’ve had to adjust to mostly a virtual fashion week, but we do have a couple in-person events- so, today we have our photo station,” Spark said.

Student’s could get their picture taken by a magazine photographer Monday to mark the beginning of the Fashion Week.

Other event’s for the week include a virtual make-up tutorial, modeling tips, and an alumni panel. Friday’s finale is the fashion show.

The first nine Fashion Weeks had an in-person fashion show complete with an audience and runways. This year, designers and retailers created video’s that will be aired Friday.

The videos will include clothing from three student designers, one non-student designer, Chicago retailer Trashed Vintage, and Madison retailers ReThreads and August.
